Another must see. In the perfect district for a day trip. Changdeokgung Palace, The Secret Garden and down the road is the Jongmyo Shrine. If you have any energy left, take a stroll through Insadon on your way home. Will not be disappointed.

Stepping unto the grounds surrounding Changdeokgung Palace will make you feel as if you have been transported back in time. I would suggest getting to the Palace earlier during your day, so as not to be surrounded by too many tourists and visitors. That way, you can immerse yourself in the calm environment and feel a sense of ease and serenity. It will just be you, the palace, and the few birds singing in the distance.

This is my most favorite palace among all in Seoul. So beautiful and serene. The buildings are colorful and it also has Huwon Secret Garden. Our local guide was a junior high student who explained a lot of details regarding the palace so it helped me so much in understanding the palace.

Really great place. But be prepared to spend a lot of time. This place is massive. There is an entry fee but if you are into cosplaying you can rent traditional Korean outfit (don not get the shoulders, super uncomfortable) and then you get in for free. You still need to pay (5000won) to enter The Secret Garden. You can book guide in different languages. Overall a place worth visiting!!!

Beautiful palace with such rich history. And lots and lots to see!!! It’s amazing to think how this place was built. And all the little details that went into each piece. Nothing was too small to over look. And the secret garden tour is a must! From beautiful gardens to ponds to a little retreat area for the king. It’s such a shame that the Japanese saw fit to turn this place into a zoo. Tying to ruin it. But so glad that this place was restored once again despite Japanese efforts.
