This hotel double-charged me for the room rate. I booked two rooms via Chase Travel at a prepaid rate, meaning there should have been no charges at checkout except for any additional purchases. I was assured there would be no deposit at check-in since the stay was fully prepaid. However, I noticed two pending charges on my AMEX Hilton cardโ€”$226 and $137, totaling $363. When I inquired with the front desk, the agent assured me they had not charged anything to my account. Assuming it might be some sort of "deposit," I initially ignored it. However, after completing my stay two weeks ago, I found that these charges had been posted to my account. I immediately filed a dispute with AMEX, but Hilton Gyeongju has yet to respond to the claim. Additionally, the hotelโ€™s customer service left much to be desired. Employees in the lobby did not greet guests, which felt unwelcomingโ€”something Iโ€™ve never experienced at other hotels. Furthermore, when I asked about using a Hilton Gift Card (which is valid at all Hilton properties worldwide), Ms. Geum, the manager who assisted with my check-in, had no idea what it was or how to process it. The staff at this hotel need better training in both hospitality and professionalism to meet the standards expected from a Hilton property. This experience was frustrating and disappointing.

A wonderful hotel to stay in. Everything was perfect from the check-in to check-out. The hotel team has done everything to address all my requests. The room was large, perfectly clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom and shower were really nice too. The breakfast buffet was really nice, with plenty of choice. I also had dinner at the Chinese restaurant of the hotel and the quality of the food and service was very good. The fitness room is very well equipped. I also enjoyed the Executive Lounge on the 9th floor. The food was tasty and the service was again excellent.

Five-Star Price but Two-Star Service During our vacation in Korea, we stayed at a five-star hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, for a week and then spent two days at this hotel in early July 2024. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience that is hardly expected from a luxury hotel. We booked two rooms through Chase Travel and paid total of $1118 with extra fees for free breakfast ($100 for a room with two adults and $134 for a room with two adults and one child), which we assumed would include all guests, including our child. However, upon arrival, the front desk informed us that the free breakfast was only for adults and that we needed to pay extra for our child. They didn't acknowledge our explanation that we had paid more for the room to include a child. Consequently, we ended up paying approximately $36 extra for two breakfasts during our stay. This is not the level of service we anticipate from a five-star hotel. Additionally, there is no discount on the breakfast buffet for hotel guests. The fitness room was closed for monthly maintenance during our stay, so we couldn't use it. There was also an extra charge for using the swimming pool and sauna, even for hotel guests. Unlike other five-star hotels, many of the staff members appeared inexperienced and unprofessional, resembling local young part-timers rather than professional hoteliers.

This was a nice, well-maintained property but not really convenient to primary tourist attractions or dining establishments. We had our own transportation, so touring historic Gyeongju was not a problem. Our access to the Executive Lounge provided a good alternative to distant, outside restaurants. The Hilton Gyeongju appeared primarily interested in catering to business larger gatherings. Their outdoor swimming pool looked very inviting, but the temperatures were not.
