You can taste Goryeo sweet tea at Maewoldang, the home of master craftsman Oh Dong-seop, who independently developed Goryeo sweet tea by roasting, drying and fermenting wild tea leaves, and can also purchase it online.

I think it’s true that Maewoldang is truly a place for fresh spirits!! It looks like a jewel necklace!! The colors of the teas, such as Korean sweet tea and black tea, are elaborately carved by craftsmen and shine like jewels, and the beautiful scenery you see when you look around! If you visit Namwon, I highly recommend Maewoldang for healing!!

Due to the nature of my work, I often travel to special places hidden in rural areas. The contents hidden in rural spaces include scenery, culture, and traditions, but there are also special people. It would be even more of a treasure if a special person were in a rural space with great content. Oh Dong-seop, the representative of Namwon Maewoldang, is such a person. Maewoldang, located in Maechon Village, Namwon, which is also the background of Manboksajeopogi by Kim Si-seup, a poet and writer representing Namwon, the capital of literature (the site of Boryeonsa Temple in the Geumo mythology's Manboksajeopo), is a place with the antique look of thatched roofs that can be seen as you wind your way up the village alley, which is barely large enough for a private car. It felt like a golden garden discovered in the jungle. CEO Oh Dong-seop was there. The person who offered me a cup of tea as soon as I met him and said he would show his emotion from the second cup. A person who takes care of the village by pouring hundreds of millions of won into each house every year to grow silver grass on thatched roofs. A person who creates a space with the scent of flowers all year round by planting various flowers on each wall. Because of the wild tea colony of Mt. Boryeon, he settled in a mountain village more than ten years ago, built a thatched hut topped with silver grass, named it Maewoldang, a pen name for Kim Si-seup, and created the induggong-shaped Koryo Dancha. He is confident that he has reached the pinnacle of tea taste in just over a decade. He provides tea for free to passing guests, and sometimes introduces Koryo Dancha through experiences. His life itself is like a movie. If I get the chance, I would like to pick and roast wild tea with him and make tea with him. For reference, Maewoldang also holds a small tea festival every year in April and May where people pick wild tea and make their own tea. Manhak-dong Valley, where elvan stones are located in the wild tea colony around the hiking trail leading to Gori Peak, is also a famous attraction. (The area around Geumji-myeon, Namwon-si has long been famous for elvan stone and strawberries, so it was called a wealthy neighborhood, with each household holding 100 million won in cash.)
