  '동대문구청역'으로도 불린다. 서울지하철 2호선 신답역과 신설동역 사이에 있다. 2005년 10월 20일 개업했다. 역명은 동명에서 유래했으며, 용두(龍頭)는 마을을 감싸고 있는 산의 모습이 용의 머리같이 생겼다고 해서 붙여졌다. 역 주변에 정릉천근린공원, 용신동주민센터, 경동시장, 동대문구청, 신답초등학교, 국민건강보험공단 동대문지사, 용두근린공원, 대한적십자사 서울지사, 서울특별시시설관리공단, 청계천문화관 등이 있다. 서울메트로 소속으로 서울특별시 동대문구 천호대로 지하 129(용두동 47-1)에 있다.

  A Tesco-owned Homeplus department store is located alongside this station! Enjoy the comforts of familiar English brands, and don't forget to ask for a plastic grocery bag when you leave (they are used for local garbage collection around the city).
